Cubs beat Padres 8-6 for third straight victory
CHICAGO — Darwin Barney hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to give the Chicago Cubs an 8-6 win over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday. Barney launched an offering from Dale Thayer (0-1) into the left-center field bleachers to give the Cubs a three-game sweep.
